Presidents Address

I would like to welcome to our new website which is the primary channel of communication with our members.   We will be keeping you updated about events, news, projects support groups, photos and school news. It is a great honour to be President of the Union for 2015/16 and be part of the continuing commitment of the past pupils body to the school.

One of our key activities is to support Fr. Peter McVerry through funds raised at all our events.  This year we are also giving our support to Brother Kevin Crowley of the Capuchin Day Centre.  The centre provides over 400 breakfasts and almost 500 dinners to families along with medical services, shower facilities for those sleeping rough and clothing wherever possible. There is also an increased demand for food parcels for families.

I am looking forward to all the events throughout the year, from the golf in September, the Annual Dinner in November, the meet the Masters week also in November, welcome home to the class of 2010 in December, careers evening with the 6th year students in January, the Business Lunch in February  and also the London dinner and the Green & White Dinner in March, past v present and family day in May.  Through these events, we aim to link the wider Gonzaga family both here and abroad. We want to continue strengthening our links with our overseas past pupils. This year saw our first USA reunion hosted by Fr. Barber.

This year Gonzaga will be in the JUST Ballymun – Mentoring Programme.  Past pupils of any age will assist in mentoring third level students in conjunction with Jesuit University Support and Training (JUST).  For more details you can check this click on the Benevolency & Support tab on this site.

We are very grateful to the school for the financial support that they have given us over the years to run the union.  Needless to say, website development, administration support and general expenses are all costs that the union has to pay.  Membership of the union is very much part of how we raise these funds.  If you would like to support what we are doing and would like to become a paid member, you can do so by clicking on the membership tab.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible throughout the year.
